They add a special touch to birthdays, christenings, weddings, Mother's Day, confirmations and other events where everyone gathers around the table. In the next step, fold the bottom corner of the napkin over the ends of the cutlery, holding the cutlery with the other hand. Then stack the fork and spoon on top of the knife. The handles of the cutlery should be aligned.

Take a side corner of the napkin and fold it over the handles of the cutlery towards the opposite corner. The cutlery should be wrapped tightly in the napkin. Now you can continue rolling the spoon, knife, and fork in the napkin until the roll is complete.
To stop your cutlery roll unravelling, you can hold it together with a self-adhesive napkin ring. A pretty ribbon tied around a napkin roll will add an attractive finishing touch.

Integrating your cutlery pouch into a table setting
Every table decoration is unique and showcases details that delight the eye. A napkin pouch for cutlery is not always part of a table setting, but is growing in popularity. Cutlery pouches are ideal for presenting high-quality cutlery hygienically and safely on a beautifully decorated table. The cutlery stored in the pouch is also beautifully arranged. Depending on the type of table decoration, the fold can also incorporate additional accessories such as a flower or a small figurine. Charming porcelain figurines and ornaments, perfect for decorating cutlery pouches, can be found in the online shop under the category “Other Decorations”.
Alternative napkin folding ideas include showcasing your cutlery, for example a spoon, fork and knife, in a pretty cutlery roll on the table. This is a very simple and quick folding technique. For a cohesive look, coordinate the napkins you use for folding and wrapping with the other table decorations. When preparing your festive Easter table with high-quality tableware like plates, bowls, and cups, as well as glasses from Villeroy & Boch, opt for napkins featuring springtime or Easter motifs. Neutral napkins are perfect for a dinner with friends. For your Christmas meal, opt for festive napkins to present your table cutlery in fitting style.
Additionally, to complement each occasion, attractive table runners, lamps, and vases enhance the table arrangement. These, along with other decorative items, can be found in numerous Villeroy & Boch collections, available in various sizes, shapes, and colours.
Which side do you place the napkin on?
The napkin is, of course, not just a decorative feature on the table. It has a practical purpose too. It is usually placed on the charger plate, which is the top plate. However, this is only possible if no food has been served. If the starter is already on the table when guests arrive, the napkin should be placed to the left of the cutlery or on the bread plate. During the meal, the napkin should be on your lap. These rules obviously also apply for cutlery rolls and cutlery pouches.
