Which side do you place the napkin on?
The napkin is, of course, not just a decorative feature on the table. It has a practical purpose too. It is usually placed on the charger plate, which is the top plate. However, this is only possible if no food has been served. If the starter is already on the table when guests arrive, the napkin should be placed to the left of the cutlery or on the bread plate.
